2015 Year of the Wood Sheep

WELCOME to the Year of the Green Wood Sheep

Leap into the Year of the Wood Sheep

Leap into the Year of the Wood Sheep

Chinese New years came late in 2015. As we made our way through January we could still feel the energy of the Wood Horse as he bucked his way out of the picture. The answer to the question of what type of year the Wood Sheep brings is somewhat complex. What can be a break through year for many may be a year to pause for others. Keep this in mind as I share this perspective on the year of the Wood Sheep

As many of you know there are many views on Astrology and the Western view is but one aspect and what most are familiar with. Vedic Astrology of India ( the location from which I write this year) has an in depth and complex system that I find almost ‘to precise’. Nine Star Ki Astrology, or what I refer to as ‘Feng Shui Astrology’ is specific to the 5 Elements which are present your year and month of birth. Unlike Western Astrology it deals with only one constellation; The Big Dipper. These 7 stars plus Polaris and Vega (which balance out the Yin/Yang)  overlap the 9 areas of the Bagua and include the Transformational 5 elemental theory, which is the basis of all Asian healing modalities.
Nine Star Ki relates to Western astrology in that the sun, moon and rising signs give us basic information about our personalities. In Nine Star Ki, the Sun aspect is similar to the Principle number/element, the moon sign is similar to the Character number/element and Rising sign similar to the Energetic number/element. When we combine the 9* Ki with the Chinese Animals it adds another layer which together can offer profound insights on health, career, travel, personal gifts and life challenges.

Knowing your 9* ki information is both fun and if you are curious go to  www.ninestarki.com. It will give your basic Principle Number to start. I encourage you to explore the information prior to delving into a personal reading.  It allows you a deeper view into your self and how the Elements relate to you. It may also allow you to ground in the significance of the elements overall. A Wood Sheep year is very different from a Metal Sheep year etc and as you learn more about the elements your understanding of how it may affect your personally is greatly enhanced.  As I have presented the information on the Chinese New Year for over 15 years, its a continual learning. I offer full readings upon request.  I hope you enjoy the year of the Green Wood Ram and that it inspires your curiosity as well as entertains.

2015 is not an easy year to predict. It will be clearly unlike the certain wildness of the independent Horse year we have just witnessed but will bear some similarities as they are both WOOD years. Sheep in Chinese Astrology are thought to be passive and followers but in actual fact, Sheep are non conformists that march to the beat of a different drum. They tend to stay out of the lime light as the status quo does not interest them so much. Sheep minds his business until provoked or pulled out of his own flow. It is then you can observe the nature of a perturbed feisty Goat/Ram. Sheep is considered Yin and more feminine, but it does not preclude the elements of Yang which would present as male ‘Ram’ energetic. Ram will fight to win. Thus the mildness of the peaceful Sheep has its flip side, which makes predicting the year that much more expansive and even a challenge to the best of Chinese Astrologers.

In 2014, the Horse energy prevailed; and generally many could relate and understand this magnificent beast. As a result we were not surprised to be thrown a few curve balls in 2014, with some of us more affected than others. If we are followers of western astrology, we may be aware of know the complexity of energies we had to ride out. As this is not my area of expertise, I cannot speak to it professionally but I will say that much of what influenced us in Western Astrology was felt deeply by many as we ended 2014 and transitioned into 2015.
The Sheep energy has now arrived as milder and more peaceful. It will be ‘equally energized’ due to the dynamic action of the strong Yang Wood influence that also ruled the Horse year. And as we transitioned from Jan 1st -Feb 19th we could sense the Horse energy  ‘acting out’. Wood is a dynamic element and will give this years Sheep an dynamic edge in 2015.

There are many positive influences for the Wood Sheep Year. Sheep’s nature is that of a peaceful and honorable being. The core energy is of humanitarian, caring and extremely artistic. This will influence all of us in varying degrees. Those with an artistic sensibility will thrive. For more linear thinkers It will allow an opening to the arts; perhaps influencing time spent in appreciation of the arts or getting involved in an activity that relaxes and stimulates left brain expansion. The creative forces at work here allow us to let let go the mundane and take risks in areas of our ‘inner creative’ as well as ‘outer creative’ lives. Taking the first step is often the hardest, but to do so in a Sheep year will most likely see you staying with it. The results and benefits may surprise you.

On the other hand, the challenge of Wood Element will prompt the passive Sheep in more aggressive activities. It will amplify the Sheep’s thinking ‘out of the box‘ which can lead to the unknown. Wood allows the Sheep to become more dynamic, creating a forward movement that indeed is the ‘unpredictable’; add this to the non conformist attitude and we have evens that occur that will be  memorable.

The Animals that will see the most luck this year are the Rabbit, Horse, Monkey, and Pig!  The Sheep in this Sheep year will have to stay under the radar. Finances overall for all animals look good. Any challenges you may have faces in the last 2-3 years will shift if you have been diligent and planning ahead.

In the recent past many dynamic animals have ruled. The Dragon, Snake and Horse brought much change. In terms of money markets these years were tricky to navigate. I suggested to all that we not take unnecessary risks.  If you were careful through these times,  this year you will reap the rewards. Our current oil fluctuations may prove to be stressful but its provoking us to explore other options. and the undercurrent of Sheep energy prevails as environmental issues are but one area near and dear to most Sheep born.
Sheep are industrious only when they are passionate about what they are doing! Keep this in mind this year. You must have total commitment before you take risks in any areas of your life, but finances are top on the list. If you need to borrow cash or venture capital be forewarned that it must be for a something you are absolutely sure about; whether career of a personal nature. If you listen to your gut chances are it will work and the rewards can be great. Taking a gamble without due diligence and simply on speculation is risky business.
The influence of the Fire element, which is the Sheep’s base element, tends to drive impulses, so we must watch what we want and the motivation behind it. If it has an artistic bend to it, and meets the above criteria, chances are it will pay off. When something ‘fires’ you up personally its a good sign. Fire also presents itself in creativity and passion. This advice goes for pretty much all animals this year to varying degrees.

And, I will say here that even though you will find the year challenging, if you are Sheep born and have a craving to step out from the regular ‘day to day grind’ to do something wild and crazy with an artistic flavor;  this is the year to do it. The last year of the Wood Sheep was 1955, so if you are having a 60th birthday this year its what we call a return year. You have cycled through the 5 elements and the 12 signs and have ‘returned’ to the elemental animal of your year of birth. Many people become confused by this and do not know their actual birth year element. Its easy to google it to know which of the 5 elements you were born with. The highlights of 1955 were listed on Wikipedia and show the varied events in the arts, and humanities. African Americans and the Human rights movement came into view for many when  Rosa Parks refusal to give up her seat on a bus in the segregated Alabama and the debut of the first debut of an African American Signer, Marion Anderson at the MET in New York City. The Vietnam war started this year and we saw the birth of many who made an imprint on the world with their ideas such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Many Born in 1955 became prominent in acting, music and the arts such as Yo Yo Ma, Steve Earl, Bruce Willis, Van Halen, Kevin Costner, Billy Idol and Roseanne Cash.Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955  for more highlights of the year.

Sheep, as a harmonious and humanitarian lot, care deeply about people and the state of the world. Their way of working with it is sometimes unorthodox.  Sheep years in the past have yielded upsets and have shaken up the ‘status quo’. When the Yang aspect of Sheep (Ram) has had enough, it will endeavor to do things its way. With Wood being the presenting element this year, the masculine energy will be a ruling factor. World powers may have to yield to the demands of a more altruistic quest. For the good of all, the Sheep /Ram intervention will clear the air and get things back on track; and this resulting harmony could come with a bit of a ‘shake up’.

On one hand the Sheep year is usually more calm, peaceful and fruitful years than the preceding Horse year. But take note again the Wood element!  Its dominance can and will create under currants that give the Wood  Sheep’s its wry smile. In terms of world politics, finances, and especially environmental issues. We may see and feel changes that we did not see coming. When disasters happen that are linked environmental issues wither due to climate change or man’s influence, watch the response from the overall public. In Sheep years nothing gets by the critical and mindful sheep. Things will not get swept under the mat or will coverups of any kind succeed. Humanity is reaching critical mass in its ability to accept human fault in disasters that can of could be prevented. Global awareness is at its peak due to social media and the internet. The Sheep’s passivity will shift when we see or witness anything that has an effect on quality of life in the grander scale.  Closer to home, the Wood Sheep energy can influence us with being ‘stirred up or agitated’ in order to create change that can ultimately allow us more creative energy. Within these shifts can come balance; personally, emotionally and ultimately in our health and well being.

Taking a lead from the Sheep will facilitate a new way of being, and create an overall shift in perspectives. This may come at what seems a cost, but will benefit each and everyone in the long run.

How the ANIMALS of the Chinese Zodiac will fare in 2015

RAT CALIGRAT Born 1900, 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008.

Transitions will come slowly this year for the rat born. It is not a year to push anything but more a year to rest your busyness and regroup. The shifts that the Wood Sheep will take you thru some would say are difficult times , but I would say are welcome and necessary for you to advance on all levels. Finances will be tight and you may see some bad investments but will learn from these in a valuable way. It will be slow in recuperating spent energy and resources but you will, if you go slow and stay focused, redeem your loses and be strong by years end. Take care in your relationships not to talk behind peoples back as it will rebound. Compassion for those who are not at your level is critical to nourish and showing the way in challenges will shift your perspective. Your love life will improve if you are able to curb behaviors that will damage you and that of loved ones. Your careen will see big strides as the underlying energy of Water for rat’s base element will nourish the wood of the Sheep year. Even though you are not totally compatible with Sheep you can advance in many ways if you are creative and positive in your undertakings.

PIG CALIGPig Born 1901, 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009.

For Pigs this year resonates with your energy. The Sheep holds a mirror  for you and you like what you see as you are inspired by his diligent way in the world. You know you have a unique take on life but sometimes you have problems pushing through. The Sheep is seen as part of a flock as a  docile animal but it masks his ability to get things done. For Pig born is now time to walk the talk that you have been sharing with friends and family and get out there. The Wood Sheep’s’ energy will allow you the freedom and creativity to do so; and with a flare only pigs can pull off.  Caution is always good when starting new ventures but with strong intentions the way is clear. Remember to do your homework, dot the i’s and cross your t’s and have confidence that you are able to pull it off with Sheep at your side. Your love life may be a bit rocky but with compassion and being able to stay true to yourself will allow you to ride out the rough spots. Keep your heart open and enjoy the ride.

TIGER CALIGTiger Born 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998

This year will see you being pulling in several directions. Careful to drop into your heart when making important decisions. Your penchant for being altruistic and fighting for a good cause aligns with Wood Sheep energy. Question your ulterior motives around money issues. Its common sense for all of us to be wary of finances, just don’t let them ‘rule’ your decisions. Take a chance while making sure you have done your due dilligence.  Also make sure the heart energy that inspires your boundless energy is focused on loved ones and causes.Siblings and good friends will benefit from your attentions. Marriages and relationships can flourish in Wood Sheep years, as long as you are attentive. Fostering these relationships will buoy your energy this year.  Your ‘modus operandi’ in 2015 should be a calm approach. Remember, you are Sheep’s predator so take care in wanting to control situations and allow your creative juices to dictate.

RABBIT CALIGRabbit Born  1903, 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999

A very high energy prevails for Rabbits in 2015. Not only are you influenced by the Wood element as East is your direction, but you are blessed by the beneficent calmness and creativity that Sheep showers on those open, ready and willing this year. Rabbits usually have a hidden agenda at the best of times. This year its time to ‘drop the veil’ and allow people to know you better; faults and all! As you pass thru the fear of revelation, your creative side will flourish and you will garner attention in the most unusual ways! Its a year where you can have all you desire if you are willing to be open and transparent. Its a year to think out of the box; seek new partners in business and jump start any creative ventures with sharing ideas and allowing others to guide you. Get out of your head and into your heart more and those around you will reap rewards, as will you. Money luck is good so long as you are willing to share. What goes round comes round and for Rabbit its essential to remember this. It will reduce tension that is self inflicted and allow you the rejuvenation you require to maintain your energy levels.1904,1916,

DRAGON CALIGDragon Born 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000.

Dragons will find the year a touch challenging in that the docile aspects of Sheeps’ inner strength is at odds with Dragon nature. Therefore its a year to watch, listen and learn. Take it easy on your self; take a break from being out there and allow your strengths to be inspired by the Wood Element which is your base element and feeds your innovative and provocative nature. This way you will find inspiration in things you may have overlooked in the past. Romance can be heightened when you take a step back to be more observant. Its a great year to plan for the future and allow your self the ability to go slower than usual. Let go responsibility for others and just be. Much joy is there to harvest when you can drop into quiet introspection. the Dragons flare for drama usually creates the excitement you need to shift your reality if need be.  Be clear about your intentions, and allow yourself to be inspired by Sheep. To challenge him is a waste of time and energy in 2015!

SNAKE CALIGSnake Born 1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001.

Its a fine line for snakes in a Wood Sheep year. Finances are a concern, so its time to look over the past years misteps and plan accordingly for the future. Snakes tend to be more cautious as a rule and  this year that approach will serve you if you are open to new approaches. Future success may rely on finding amazing new ways to pursue your dreams. Avenues that not have been open because of your cautious approach or limited viewpoint can shift in a Wood Sheep year.  Turning the corner on old paradigms is key and you are now wiser and have the knowledge to work with. What may seem to be a challenging year may prove to be a diamond in the rough. Using your intate abilities of keen observation can assist you from Career to Love pursuits. Health issues may come to the forefront this year so pay extra attention to taking care especially when traveling. Rest, good diet and proper exercise will go a long way in a year ruled by the wood element. A cautious year overall but also rewarding when you know how to approach it.

HORSE CALIGHorse Born 1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002.

Oddly enough, after your rule in 2014, 2015 will be a year to flourish. Often the animal of the year faces challenges in its own year! Now your independent nature will not be ruled with the same responsibility and you and manifest the dreams you have been sitting with for the last several years!  Yes it may seem odd but Sheep years can be very powerful for Horse born. Sheep is an ally, and softly so. Its ability to march to the tune of its own drum is both an inspiration and freeing aspect for your independent yet responsible nature. Your heart will be open, your eyes will see clearly (no blinders this year) and you will soar in areas that allow your true nature to flourish. The caution is being aware of taking care on all levels; physically, emotionally and spiritually. With the energy you feel you may forgo the rest you need. Remember you held the torch last year and although inspired this year, balance is key!

GOAT CALIGSheep Born 1907, 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003.

You are in the lead and in the spot light this year!  You may find some pressure in this place as you are use to being under the radar. This year your secret is out! Assumptions about your docile nature and how you are happy to be lead will reveal a deeper understanding of Sheep nature in that you mask your true power in subtle ways. The truth of your inner ability to forge your own path while seeming to follow will inspire many to move past restrictions in many areas. There is a responsibility in this during your rule which you may find a bit uncomfortable. If you embrace it your gentle strong nature will  influence others and the world events in a positive way. You may be shaken a bit with this ability to be seen for who you are but it will ultimately strengthen you. Being the ruler in 2015 will take energy and perseverance, not that you are shy in those areas, just that you will have to take extra care to meet your own needs while fighting for bigger causes.

MONKEY CALIGMonkey Born 1908, 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004.

All the years leading to this one have been promising but challenging. Just when we have resigned to the work harder, the sky opens, the sun comes out and beckons you to celebrate, dance and enjoy!  This year its a blessing not a curse. Many things and inquires of the past few years will come to light this year and abundance will flow. Whether this be in love, self appreciation, work or overall appreciation for life,  its time to move with it in ease. Clarity will come in many aspects of life. Your intentions will come to fruition but your focus must stay strong. Its easy for Monkey to get caught up in plans, ideas and being influenced by others so this year its very important to step back and see the patterns.  Allow all that works to continue to work and all that does not to go. Its a powerful time to shift your reality and live from your heart not your Monkey mind. Balancing both for the greater cause will have you sharing and soaring in 2015.

ROOSTER CALIGRooster Born 1909, 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005.

Roosters year will have to really hold back and refresh your energies and regroup in the Wood Sheep year. 2013 and 2014 were powerful years and if you were in step you will have gone thru many significant changes! With all the shift take this year to wind down a bit and be a strategist  for this next wave! Things will slow down and in some cases will cause you frustration if you try to keep up the momentum of the past few years! Recognize the shift and go with the flow. Sheep nature is not so compatible with the Rooster but has much to offer in terms of seeing things in a more clear perspective. Allowing your cocky nature to benefit others by being a mentor in your field of expertise is an advised. Giving back with your gifts is what is at the forefront for you in 2015. The challenges your may feel or face will suit your quiet, strong assertive nature. It will also allow you to  be more aware of your continued purpose and abilities. Although the year may feel awkward, of you shift with it and know what your true intentions are, it can flow more easily.  Surrender to your own special abilities, shine your light and stay in your heart.

dog caligraphyDog Born 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006.

If you have not jumped into the fray in the Horse year you may not find it so easy to break free this year. Last year was your year to leap, this year you must continue to do so but will have to be more cautious in your endeavors. Perhaps you did take the giant leaps you needed in 2014 and if so you will be quietly soaring in 2015. If you held back the path this year is more strewn with challenges. You have the fortitude to break through and it could be a more powerful realization when you work harder to get there! Travel and new experiences will allow transitions to happen with ease , do not reenter any old ruts but stay focused on the bigger picture! Do your best to share your talents and gifts with many and your rewards will multiply.

ox CALIGOx Born 1911, 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007.

The quietness of the Sheep energy may confuse the Ox in 2015, and the intensity of the Wood’s  forward moving Yang thrust could shatter your calm. Staying true to your nature you will be able to take it in stride and move quietly towards your goals none the less. Seeking new ways to do things is key for the Ox Born and the Wood element will nourish your Water nature in quiet and creative ways. Time to be a little ‘lighter ‘ in your approach and relax into new perspectives. The worst thing that can happen is that you will face sticky challenges if you resist. The wise choice is to flow thru the year when you surrender to a fresh perspective. Career is favorable, as is your romantic life if you are aware of your competition and avoid conflicting situations. You will especially benefit by giving more than receiving this year, as it will come round. Share your heart energy and allow those near to you to give to you as well.
